September 11th. Google Company held a two-day training program at the Korean-Palestinian IT Institute of Excellence (KPITIE), New Campus, An-Najah University. The course was administered by four Google trainers from the United States, Europe and Dubai. The training was part of the Arab Development Initiative and focused on several topics including programming languages, internet and cell phone applications.
This training was a result of the cooperation between Google, Mercy Corps and the KPITIE. More than 30 trainees joined the program including students, employees and graduates.
Engineer Khaled Barham, Director of the KPITIE, stressed the importance of this kind of training programs as it reinforces the University’s status as a pioneering institution in the field of technology both locally and regionally. Additionally, such training enhances the students and employees’ skills and experience in the technological field.
Moreover, this program is the first phase of a coming series of training programs that will be held over the next year. The training team from Google praised the participants’ abilities and interaction with the trainers and expressed their impression by the advancement in technology and architecture that An-Najah has achieved over the last years.
At the conclusion of the course a competition was organized in which the participants competed to create applications that are based on Google’s technology; the winner was Sameh Al-Far
